Because of the Ukraine war An American draft resolution to remove Russia from the Security Council Two members of the US House of Representatives representing the states of Tennessee and South Carolina submitted a draft resolution providing for Russia's removal from the UN Security Council for its war on Ukraine, as they demanded, in a statement, that US President Joe Biden take all steps to achieve this.  Two members of the US House of Representatives submitted a draft resolution stipulating the removal of Russia from the UN Security Council because of its war on Ukraine.  In a statement issued by them on Wednesday, Representative from Tennessee Steve Cohen (Democrat) and Representative from South Carolina Joe Wilson (Republican) said that the draft resolution they submitted provides for Russia's removal from the Security Council because of its "unjustified occupation of Ukraine."  The two members of the Committee on Security and Cooperation in Europe at the House of Representatives considered that Russia, with its war on Ukraine, "violated the existence of the Security Council and the principles and objectives of the United Nations."  The draft resolution called on US President Joe Biden to take all steps to remove Russia from the Security Council.  On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which was followed by angry international reactions and the imposition of "tough" economic and financial sanctions on Moscow.
