French star Karim Benzema wrote his name among those who will be immortalized in history in the records of the best after his coronation yesterday, Monday, with the Golden Ball award, a coronation that opens the door for the Real Madrid player to receive an attractive financial reward.
Benzema won the Ballon d'Or award, awarded by the French magazine "France Football", thanks to his impressive performance with Real Madrid last season.
The French magazine does not give a financial reward in addition to the prestigious Golden Ball award, but this does not prevent players from obtaining additional income once the title is crowned.
According to the Spanish newspaper, AS , Benzema's contract with Real Madrid stipulates that the French player will be awarded a reward of about one million euros in return for winning the Ballon d'Or.
Usually, most football stars are keen to include a clause in their contract that allows them to receive a special bonus in the event of winning certain individual titles, and at the forefront of those titles is the Golden Ball award.
Coronation of the Golden Ball brings additional income to the club in which the player is active, thanks to the increased media interest, which is reflected in an increase in resources from sponsorship contracts and the sale of products associated with the club or the crowned player.
On the other hand, the Spanish newspaper reported that Benzema may receive another award from Real Madrid in addition to the financial reward, as the player will be in the best hall to renew his contract with the Royal Club.
Benzema's contract with Real Madrid expires next June, and although he will complete 35 years next December, the French star is close to renewing his contract for another year thanks to his distinguished level and numbers that have not been affected by his age.
Benzema won the Golden Ball award after leading Real Madrid to the Champions League and Spanish League titles last season, becoming the first
French player to win the title since Zinedine Zidane did it in 1998.
Benzema spent an amazing season, scoring 44 goals in 46 games in all competitions, and contributed to Real Madrid's 14th Champions League title in its history, after scoring 15 goals in the competition
