CCI fines Google Rs 1,337 crore  New Delhi :The Competition Commission of India has imposed a fine of Rs 1,337.76 crore on Google. This action has been taken to misuse its strong position in the market in the Android mobile device sector. Along with this, the CCI has directed the leading Internet company to stop and stop unfair business activities. CCI said in a release on Thursday that Google has also been directed to revise its functioning within a stipulated time-frame. Google has been fined for abusing the position."  Google operates and manages the Android OS (Android Operating System) and licenses its other proprietary applications. Original equipment manufacturers or OEMs use this OS and Google's apps on their mobile devices. According to this, they enter into several agreements under the Mobile Application Distribution Agreement (MADA) for the control of their rights and obligations.   Significantly, the CCI had ordered a more detailed inquiry against internet giant Google over alleged unfair terms of revenue sharing with respect to news content. In this order issued on Friday, the CCI had said that the Director General (DG) of the regulator's investigation wing will now submit a consolidated investigation report in this regard. are similar to an extent. The association alleged that its members were forced to provide their news content to Google in order to prioritize their 'weblinks' in the search engine's result pages.
