Jakarta (ANTARA) - Gresini Racing MotoGP racer, supported by Federal Oil, Enea Bastianini, achieved potential in the 2022 Spanish MotoGP, Sunday (1/5) after finishing eighth and controlling his position at the top of the standings for the world's largest two-wheeled race.
Judging from the official MotoGP website on Monday, finishing eighth in the Spanish Grand Prix made Enea Bastianini sit in third place in the standings with 69 points. While the second position is Aleix Espargaro (82 points) and the first position is Fabio Quartararo (89 points).
The return of Enea Bastianini to the top of the standings was appreciated by the Market Development Director PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI) who is always the sponsor, Sri Adinegara. According to him, although it has not achieved maximum results, it has started to show improvement.
"The result was not what Enea and Diggia wanted. However, successfully finishing and bringing home points was an effort that was not in vain, seeing that all the drivers were very competitive at the Jerez Circuit. Enea started from 11th position and then finished eighth, already showing enthusiasm to return compete in the race for the 2022 MotoGP World Champion title," said Sri Adinegara.
Sri Adinegara hopes that Enea's return in the 2022 World Champion title competition can be continued with better results at the French MotoGP, which will be held on 15 May.
"Hopefully this good result at Jerez can continue with the consistent acquisition of greater points in France. Of course these results will make Indonesia proud with the full support of Federal Oil in the Gresini Racing MotoGP team," he added.
Meanwhile, Enea Bastianini admitted that he was not completely happy with what he had achieved at Jerez, especially since the vehicle used, the Ducati Desmosedici GP21, had the potential to compete with the riders in front.
"Looking at the competition there, we have tried to do our best. We are trying to get valuable points in this race, which is still difficult to get the feeling of the expected motor speed," said Enea in his official statement.
If Enea can finish eighth, his team mate Fabio Di Giannantonio also achieves a competitive result despite not being able to score points. The rider who is familiarly called Diggia finished 18th.
"Overall the race went smoothly. Unfortunately I lost a few positions at the start, but if you look at the data, I can already better catch up with the drivers in front. The possibility of getting points is not far away. , but we still have to continue to make improvements," he said.
