Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that the fasting month is a very appropriate moment to do taqarrub or draw closer to Allah and do self-introspection.
"While fasting is the right time for us to increase taqarrub or draw closer to Allah, as well as to do muhasabah or self-introspection to clear our hearts and minds," said the Vice President in his greeting welcoming 1 Ramadhan 1443 Hijri, in Jakarta, Saturday.
The vice president invites Muslims to increase worship, repentance, istighfar, dhikr, shalawat, and alms, and pray to Allah SWT to be given protection and safety from calamities and dangers in order to resist reinforcements, especially from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The vice president also invited all Muslims to make Ramadan a month of increasing alms, including issuing zakat mal.
"Don't make Ramadan a month that is more consumptive. But a month of concern," said the Vice President.
