Half a million people are on the waiting list, A high evaluation of Trump's "Truth Social" application
The app currently has an average user rating of 4.1 stars on the Apple App Store, although a number of 5-star reviewers have indicated that they haven't been able to sign up for the app yet.
Former President Donald Trump's social media platform, Truth Social, which launched in beta just two days ago, is struggling to resolve technical glitches and difficulty getting new users in its early stages.
The site, which described itself as a kind of alternative to free speech Twitter with more tolerant policies on moderating content, has already taken a small number of users off its platform.
Other users are struggling to sign up for the new platform, which now has nearly half a million people on its waiting list.
User Matt Ortega was rejected by Truth Social because of his username "DevineNunesCow, " Mashable reported.
This was mocked by a satirical Twitter account by Nunez himself, who is currently the CEO of the app's parent company, Truth Social.
A few users noted that TruthSocial's moderation policy is noticeably stricter than Twitter's, despite it claiming to be a haven from the scrutiny of big tech companies.
Unlike Twitter, True Social users can have their accounts suspended or permanently expelled from the system for posting content that moderators consider false, defamatory, or misleading.
And while Twitter has had widespread bans in the past from posting election misinformation, it regularly allows other types of misinformation to pass through.
Truth Social users can also be banned for posting content that moderators consider “defamatory, slanderous, or otherwise objectionable,” while Twitter tends to be selective in how it handles disputes between users, unless it includes clear harassment campaigns.
However, TruthSocial is unlikely to be able to enforce this strict moderation policy if it wants to grow on a large scale. The platform relies on a combination of volunteer moderators, user reports, and bots to handle the removal of content.
New and potential users also encounter technical issues while trying to sign up for the app, which is only available on iOS.
The platform experienced a 13-hour outage just hours after its appearance last Sunday night due to an influx of new users.
The app currently has an average user rating of 4.1 stars on the Apple App Store, although a number of 5-star reviewers indicated that they were unable to sign up for the app yet.
One reviewer who gave the app five stars wrote that they had yet to receive an email confirmation from Truth Social, "Every time I try to create an account, I don't get the email to confirm my email address. No, not in junk either."
"One time I got the email after several hours and it was already expired. I'm still trying and will keep trying. I rate the app five stars because I think someone is playing games and the review doesn't matter because I haven't even been able to set up an account yet. I'm just trying to solve a problem."
