Former judge of Patna High Court Justice Anjana Prakash and journalist Qurban Ali have filed. The petition has demanded an independent, credible and fair investigation by the SIT of hate speech against Muslims.
The matter of Hate Speech in the Parliament of Religions in Haridwar has reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has also agreed to hear this matter soon. Chief Justice NV Ramana said that we will hear the matter. Regarding this matter, senior advocate Kapil Sibal in the apex court said, 'We have filed a public interest litigation on the incidents in the Dharma Sansad in Haridwar. The slogan of the country has changed from Satyamev Jayate to Sashastramev Jayate.
The CJI said that the court will look into it. He asked whether investigation has already been done in this matter. On this, Sibal said that only FIR has been registered in the matter, no action was taken, no arrest. In the end, the CJI said that he would hear the matter.
Let us inform that Justice Anjana Prakash, former judge of Patna High Court and journalist Kurban Ali has filed. The petition has demanded an independent, credible and fair investigation by the SIT of hate speech against Muslims. Along with this, a demand has been made to comply with the orders issued by the Hate Speech Supreme Court in the Tehseen Poonawala case.
He has approached the Supreme Court seeking immediate intervention in the matter related to the hate speech given at two separate events between December 17 and 19, 2021. First- organized by Yeti Narasimhanand in Haridwar and secondly organized by 'Hindu Yuva Vahini' in Delhi.
In the petition against hate speech in the Parliament of Religions in Haridwar on 17-19 December, it has been said that 'it was an open call for the killing of the entire community, not just hate speech'. This hate speech put the lives of millions of Muslim citizens in danger. Hate speech is a serious threat to the unity and integrity of our country, but even after almost 3 weeks have passed, no effective steps have been taken by the police officers. Police inaction not only allows hate speech to be given, but it also shows that police officers are actually joining hands with perpetrators of communal hate speech.
The petition has also demanded an inquiry into the program of Hindu Yuva Vahini held in Delhi. The Union Home Ministry, Delhi Police Commissioner and Uttarakhand DGP have been made parties in the petition.
Let us tell you that a Dharma Sansad was organized in Haridwar last month, in which the matter of giving hate speech against a particular religion sect came to the fore. In this case, Uttarakhand Police had registered a case against Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and others . Police had informed that taking cognizance of the video going viral on social media for spreading hatred by giving provocative speeches against a particular religion, a case has been registered against Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and others in Kotwali Haridwar under section 153A IPC. .
In Haridwar, this program lasted for three days. In this, after the video of the hate speech went viral, former army chiefs, activists and many others condemned the controversial speech in sharp words and demanded action. Trinamool Congress leader and RTI activist Saket Gokhale had lodged a complaint against the organizers and the speakers in this matter.
