BI Governor explains 2022 policy to support rapid digital finance
This of course accelerates the flow of money and also supports the people's economy and next week we will launch BI-Fast
Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo said the national digital financial economy will increase rapidly in 2022 with e-commerce volume reaching Rp530 trillion.
"I convey hope, optimism that next year, the national financial economy will increase rapidly. E-commerce volume will increase to IDR 530 trillion from IDR 403 trillion this year," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo in the KAGAMA webinar, Friday.
Electronic money, he continued, will increase to Rp337 trillion from this year's Rp289 trillion. Then digital banking, digital non-bank banking, and digital banking services will increase to Rp48 thousand trillion next year from this year's Rp40 thousand trillion.
To achieve this target, Bank Indonesia has prepared the direction of the 2022 policy mix consisting of a pro- stability monetary policy and a pro- growth policy consisting of macroprudential, payment systems, developing money markets, and an inclusive and green financial economy.
“Indeed, for last year and this year, 5 policies were pro- growth because price stability was maintained, exchange rate stability was maintained. But next year the world will change because there is uncertainty in the global money market due to the normalization of monetary policy," he said.
Specifically for the direction of payment system policies, said Perry Warjiyo, Bank Indonesia has carried out a digitalization transformation since May 2019. Until early December 2021, the number of QRIS users has reached 12 million users and next year is targeted at 12 million.
"This of course accelerates the circulation of money and also supports the people's economy and next week we will launch BI-Fast," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
In addition, Bank Indonesia also conducts electronification of regional government finances, digital rupiah, and consolidation of the payment system industry to support unicorns in Indonesia.
Regarding global economic growth, Bank Indonesia is optimistic that global improvement will continue in 2021 and is expected to start recovering in 2022. However, the impact of supply chain disruptions and energy constraints needs to be watched out for.
Optimism for recovery is also supported by continued increases in world trade volumes and commodity prices, thus underpinning export prospects for developing countries.
BI predicts global economic growth in 2021 at 5.7 percent and 4.4 percent in 2022.
