After being evacuated from Yemen, the Iranian ambassador to the Houthis dies of corona  On Tuesday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the death of its ambassador to the Houthi group in Sanaa, Hassan Erlo, as a result of being infected with the Corona virus, and Riyadh had agreed to evacuate Airlo Saturday from Sanaa via an Iraqi medical evacuation plane.  On Tuesday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the death of its "ambassador" to the Houthi group in Sanaa, Hassan Erlo, as a result of being infected with the Corona virus.  The ministry said in a statement published by the Iranian news agency, that "the Iranian ambassador to the National Salvation Government (formed by the Houthis - not internationally recognized) in Yemen, Hassan Erlo, died of infection with the Corona virus, despite the treatment measures."  The statement added, "Erlo, who was suffering from symptoms of chemical weapons, which he was exposed to during the imposed war (the war in Yemen) was infected with the Corona virus in the place of his mission. Unfortunately, he returned to the country in unfavorable conditions due to the late cooperation of some (unnamed) countries."  And Saturday, Airlo was evacuated from Sanaa via an Iraqi medical evacuation plane, according to a shipping source who spoke to Anadolu Agency at the time.  In a mysterious way, Erlo arrived in Sanaa in October 2020, after he was appointed as Iran's ambassador to the Houthis.  Iran is the only country that has appointed an ambassador to the Houthi-controlled areas.  And in August 2019, the Houthi group appointed its ambassador to Tehran, amid condemnation from the Yemeni government.  Yemen has been witnessing for nearly 7 years a continuous war between the pro-government forces backed by an Arab military alliance led by the neighboring Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including the capital, Sanaa, since September 2014. Turkey adds UAE dirham and Azerbaijani manat to official circulation currencies  The Turkish Central Bank is to add the UAE dirham and the new Azerbaijani manat to the foreign exchange system in circulation, bringing the number of the Turkish Central Bank to 22 currencies.  On Tuesday, the Turkish Official Gazette published a decision of the Turkish Central Bank to add the UAE dirham and the new Azerbaijani manat to the foreign exchange system.  The amendments made by the Turkish Central Bank in accordance with Resolution No. 32 on the protection of the value of the Turkish currency and Communication No. 2008-32/34 issued by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance entered into force after its publication in the Official Gazette.  With this decision, the number of foreign currencies circulating at the Central Bank of Turkey has risen to 22.  The currencies circulated at the Central Bank of Turkey have thus become the US dollar, Australian dollar, new Azerbaijani manat, UAE dirham, Bulgarian lev, Chinese yuan, Danish krone, euro, South Korean won, British pound, Iranian riyal, Swedish krona, Swiss franc, Japanese yen, Canadian dollar, Qatari riyal, Kuwaiti dinar, Norwegian krone, Pakistani rupee, Romanian leu and ruble Russian and Saudi riyal.

Turkey adds UAE dirham and Azerbaijani manat to official circulation currencies


The Turkish Central Bank is to add the UAE dirham and the new Azerbaijani manat to the foreign exchange system in circulation, bringing the number of the Turkish Central Bank to 22 currencies.

On Tuesday, the Turkish Official Gazette published a decision of the Turkish Central Bank to add the UAE dirham and the new Azerbaijani manat to the foreign exchange system.

The amendments made by the Turkish Central Bank in accordance with Resolution No. 32 on the protection of the value of the Turkish currency and Communication No. 2008-32/34 issued by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance entered into force after its publication in the Official Gazette.

With this decision, the number of foreign currencies circulating at the Central Bank of Turkey has risen to 22.
